Performance did not deliver
I was disappointed with this event, despite being a great fan of Nikki Glaser. I was expecting to see a "personal" side of him, as I've never seen him "live" before, and hear a variety of his songs. Most of the numbers were sang in Italian - so I could not understand or appreciate the message, even though I have many of his CDs in English. These selections were not performed, and I could not relate to the songs I enjoy.
Bocelli never addressed the audience, just out on stage singing and leaving. Other than a fleeting reference to him changing his jacket, there was no "thank you" for coming, or "it's a pleasure to be here." His co-performers, especially the guitar duo, performed very well, and the orchestra was wonderful. He sang a couple of selections from his new CD, Passiones, but quite frankly, I do not need to hear another rendition of New York, New York.
Bottom line...wait for PBS to broadcast the performance. It was a nice evening out for us to celebrate Valentine's Day with each other, but we both left feeling more should have been put into the production.
